DIY Spa Salt Scrub Recipe From Viceroy Snowmass’ Spa
With everyone sheltering at home, The Spa at Viceroy Snowmass wants to provide recipes so Mom can treat herself to a homemade salt scrub, which exfoliates the skin. In addition, The Spa has provided recipes for essentials oils you can add to the salt scrub.
Exfoliation helps remove dead skin from the surface, leaving healthy, soft, and radiant skin that glows. We include Himalayan pink salt in salt scrubs because it has 84 trace minerals and nutrients and the oil in the Himalayan Salt Scrub is easily absorbed once skin is exfoliated. We love the pink tint it gives to the salt scrub.
We recommend making multiple batches of the salt scrub, along with different essential oils you can pick from depending on your mood that day.
It is best to use salt scrubs in the shower 1x per week. Take a small amount in your hand and rub on dry skin, then rinse clean with water. Some oil will remain on the skin; simply pat dry and enjoy your soft radiant glow. Salt scrubs generally last about six months when made with oil.
DIY SALT SCRUB INGREDIENTS
1-1/2 cup finely ground Himalayan Pink Salt (You can also use a mixture of the Himalayan salt and finely ground sea salt if preferred)
4 tbs. grapeseed oil
3 tbs. almond oil
1 tbs. jojoba oil
10 drops vitamin E (Vitamin E is optional but I love it in all my homemade body products. A little goes a long way.
15-20 drops of essential oil (see suggestions below)
Measure salt into a mixing bowl
Mix in grapeseed oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, vitamin E
Add in chosen essential oil
Mix until all salt is coated in oil (it should be paste, not liquid)
Store in a glass or metal container of your choice; I prefer metal half-pint containers in case it gets dropped in the shower. This recipe fills 2 half-pint jars.
