Frasca Hospitality Group’s Frasca Food and Wine and Pizzeria Locale in Boulder, and Tavernetta and Sunday Vinyl in Boulder made the tough decision to furlough 222 staff and close its doors. In addition to applying for federal assistance, helping establish the Independent Restaurant Coaliton and hosting gift card sales and more, the leadership tream created the FHG Staff Relief Fund, in partnership with some great friends in the hospitality industry to provide experiences for guests to enjoy in their homes.

Here are a few ways you can help support the FHG team; more details can be found on each of the restaurant’s websites in the “Ways You Can Support” tab.

Ceritas Tasting Packs & Virtual Tasting

Ceritas Winemaker and Proprietor John Raytek is one of the most thoughtful, intriguing winemakers in California. Focused on single vineyard designated wines, Ceritas is a project unlike any other, expressing the true terroir from the most special sites of California. Buy Failla Wines

Ehren Jordan is one of California’s greatest winemakers, having made the wines of Turley for 18 years and his own Failla since 1998. Ehren reached out to Bobby Stuckey to offer help to our team. His winery, Failla, is generously going to donate 50% of sales from their 2018 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, 2018 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay and 2018 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir bottlings directly to the FHG Staff Relief Fund. The Sonoma Coast Pinot and Chardonnay from Failla are the perfect everyday wines from Failla. Blended from multiple benchmark vineyard sites throughout the Sonoma Coast that Jordan famously flies his little plane to due to their remote and extreme location (think Peay in Occidental, Hirsch, Keefer Ranch in the Russian River Valley), these wines strike the perfect balance of fruit and freshness.

The Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is a newer project for Ehren and the Failla team and undeniably delicious. He sources fruit here from the very best vineyards in Willamette. The Failla Willamette Pinot has all the savour and mineral character one seeks out in Oregon pinot noir married with the elegance of Jordan’s winemaking style.

To contribute to FHG Staff Relief Fund: Purchase wines on the Failla website. There will be a drop-down box in the ‘Billing’ section that asks who referred them, along with a briefing on the donations. Please select “Frasca Food & Wine”.

Somm Selects 3-Pack by Giuliana Imports & Cured

Steve Lewis, founder and owner of Giuliana imports, is a huge part of our lives in the wine and culinary programs at all of our restaurants. A Boulder native, Steve is a major part of the community and has quietly built the most relevant and compelling portfolio of Italian wine in the country. As part of our staff relief effort, Steve is collaborating with Will & Coral Frischkorn of Cured, to offer a 3-pack of three of our favorite wines from his portfolio and a portion of proceeds will be donated to the FHG Staff Relief Fund.

The wines:
Calcaneus 2018 Rosato, Mount Etna, Sicily, Italy

Calcaneus is on the northern slopes of Mt. Etna, in the village of Passopisciaro.  The Calcagno brothers, Franco and Gianni, are 6th generation winegrowers. Made with no added yeast (indeginous only) After 3 hours of maceration, this nerello mascalese based wine is then fermented and aged in stainless steel before bottling. This is a crisp, dry and saline rose, perfect for spring and a variety of fresh fare.

G.D. Vajra 2016 Barolo “Albe,” Piemonte, Italy

Giuseppe Vajra makes traditional, powerful, yet chiseled Nebbiolo from the hilltop vineyards of Barolo at his small family winery. The “Albe” bottling is a blend of a few special sites and the perfect expression of the 2016 vintage, a lights out vintage in Piedmont. Arguably the best value in the entire region, we have poured this bottling by the glass for over 2 years at Tavernetta. This is the perfect braised meat pairing, think osso buco, ribs, or lamb.

Ciacci Piccolomini 2015 Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy

Based in the prized Castelnuovo dell’Abate zone of Montalcino, Ciacci Piccolomini is one of the most sought after producers of the region. Brother and sister team Paolo and Lucia Bianchini, produce elegant and savory Sangiovese. Farmed organically with minimal intervention, their wines are pure, and highly expressive. The 2015 is intensely satisfying. Nothing is better with great Brunello than grilled beef drizzled with high quality olive oil.

Price: $143 per 3-Pack (does not include delivery or shipping). To purchase, please click here.
